Ms. Paula W. Rank can be retained to represent you as your counsel in
your domestic relations litigation. In this capacity, she will advise you
as to your rights and obligations under Virginia Law. In addition, she
will negotiate on your behalf and make all reasonable attempts to
resolve the matter to your satisfaction without incurring the cost and
trauma of litigation. Ms. Rank will also propound the necessary
discovery to ascertain the other party's relevant information and the
legal positions in the legal matter. If the case does not settle, Ms. Rank
is an experienced litigator and will represent you in any and all
necessary court appearances. If a settlement is reached, Ms. Rank will
draft the agreement, or review and revise the agreement drafted by
opposing counsel. Finally, at the appropriate time, she will process the
necessary paperwork to obtain the final divorce decree, or other
court order. If the situation merits, Ms. Rank is also able to represent
you on appeal.
Please be advised, however, that Ms. Rank can provide either meditation services or
litigation services, but can no provide both services to a particular client. If she serves
as a mediator, she can not later be retained to represent either on of you in the
litigation. Likewise, if she represents you, or gives you advice, she can not later serve as
your mediator.
